Pro Horse Education Hub
Beginners' guidance on getting started with the Complete 9 Jump Set. More levels coming soon.
Getting started
A pro-level set is still best introduced piece by piece — build up, don't set it all at once.
- 01Set only two or three fences from the pack to begin with and leave the rest to one side.
- 02Poles on the ground, then cross-poles, then small verticals — over several sessions, not one.
- 03Show the horse each filler, gate and water tray in walk before it is ever jumped.
- 04Keep the uprights and wings weighted with sand bags and check every cup before mounting.
- 05Have someone on the ground to reset poles so you are not dismounting constantly.
TipA water tray can be placed flat on the ground under a low pole first — most horses accept it far quicker that way.
General guidance only. Always school within your own and your horse's ability, on safe going, with FEI-standard safety cups fitted on back rails and a competent person on hand.
