How to plan your hire
Whether it is a first fun day or a full competition, here is how to get the most from hired jumps.
Hiring for a first clinic, camp or fun day.
- 01Decide how many fences you actually need — most first events run comfortably on three to five.
- 02Message us with the date, venue and rough rider level so the set matches the day.
- 03Confirm whether you want delivery and collection, or whether you'll collect yourself.
- 04Have level, well-maintained going and a clear area marked out before the jumps arrive.
- 05Walk the layout with your instructor before the first rider goes in.
TipLeave space to lower every fence to poles on the ground — the youngest or greenest combination should still have a job to do.
Hiring for a training day or schooling show.
- 01Plan the course on paper first, then order the number of fences that layout needs.
- 02Include at least one filler and one upright so riders meet different questions.
- 03Allow time on the morning to set distances and measure related lines.
- 04Keep spare cups and poles to one side so heights change quickly between classes.
- 05Weigh wings down with sand bags if the venue is exposed.
