ProHorseJumps.ie is based in County Wexford, I decided to start Prohorse after spending too many hours looking at jumps and talking to suppliers but always being overwhelmed at the cost and the confusion of what we would need or what was the right thing to get but then also coming back to the financial side of it which would stop me commiting to buying. There wasn't a one stop shop and there wasn't options given for payments, or support.
So I decided to do it myself!! I have been around the jumping scene long enough from a professional point of view to also being pony club mum and now have moved on from that. So I have seen both sides. And I have some good friends who have helped me throughtout with ideas and telling me what I need to do and maybe what not to do.
One big thing that has stood out to me since starting the idea of doing this is saftey, and providing safe jumps for our kids to jump at rallies, home and competitions. And I dont see alot of saftey. Old timber jumps, falling apart, screws and loose nails, dangerous to lift and drag around for the people who have to acually handle them but more importantly dangerous to our ponies, horses and riders.
I think those days are gone. There is safer alternaitives. We want to encourage young people to become good horse people and that starts with making sure our animals are safe and we have the right equipment.
So you may look at the website and think yes they are expensive, because they are but this is a one stop shop. Payment plans are available. You can get advice about what you need if your a parent or rider just starting out. There will be course design ideas available to you, tips on exercises, tips on how to use just the one or two jumps you have so you can train for everything.
Everything you need is in the one place. Each set comes with everything, cups, sandbags, absoloutly everything you need and is thought out so your horse or pony is exposed to anything you might meet when your at a competition.
But dont be afriad to just start with a couple of wings or a couple of uprights and a plank.
No more dragging wet timber wings around and patching wings and fillers up every year. Have something that will last, that you or your kids or whoever can move around without help and without splinters!!!
